Privacy Policy
Legal Entity Definition
These Terms of Service (or Privacy Policy) constitute a legal agreement between you and the Operator of the Otto mobile application and website ("Otto", "we", "our", or "us").
For the purposes of this agreement, the “Operator” refers to the individual(s) or entity responsible for the current development, operation, and maintenance of the Otto mobile application and informational website, whether incorporated or not.
While Otto is currently managed by an unregistered development entity, all services are offered in good faith, and subject to the terms outlined below.
The Operator ("we", "our", or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) when you use our website (www.ottoapp.net) and our income and expense management mobile application, Otto.
Information We Collect:
To provide and improve the Otto application, we collect the following types of data. This data is collected either directly from you when you provide it, or automatically through your use of our services and our third-party partners (such as Firebase, RevenueCat, and Twilio).
1. Contact Information
Name: Your first name, last name, or display name, as provided in your user profile.
Email Address: Your email address, used for account registration, login, security notifications, and sharing features.
Phone Number: Your phone number, used exclusively for security purposes such as One-Time Password (OTP) verification.
Physical Address: Your business address, which you may optionally provide if you configure a "Business Bucket" for the purpose of generating invoices.
2. User Content
Photos and Videos: Images from your camera or photo library that you upload for receipt scanning or to set your profile avatar.
Audio Data: Voice recordings you create to dictate expenses or interact with the Otto AI assistant.
Customer Support Data: Any information, including chat logs or emails, that you send to us when you request help or provide feedback.
Other User Content: Any other text or data you generate within the app, such as Bucket names, expense descriptions, invoice details, and messages in the "Bucket Chat" feature.
3. Financial Information
Other Financial Info: The core financial data you provide, including transaction amounts, income records, expense details, currencies, and VAT information. We do not collect direct payment information like credit card numbers; this is handled securely by our payment processor, RevenueCat, via the App Store's in-app purchase system.
4. App Activity
Search History: Queries you make within the app to find your financial records.
Purchase History: A record of your subscriptions and Top-Up credit purchases, managed via RevenueCat, to determine your user status and feature access.
Product Interaction: Data about how you use the Otto app, such as app launches, taps, clicks, and screens viewed. This helps us understand which features are most useful.
5. Identifiers
User ID: A unique identifier assigned to your Otto account (e.g., your Firebase UID) that links all your data to you.
Device ID: An anonymous identifier for your device, used for sending push notifications and for analytics purposes to distinguish unique devices.
6. Diagnostics
Crash Data, Performance Data, and Other Diagnostic Data: Technical information about app crashes, performance (e.g., launch time), and other diagnostic logs used to identify and fix bugs, and to improve the stability and performance of the app.
How We Use Your Information:
Your data is used for the following specific purposes, which align with providing you a secure and functional service:
For App Functionality: We use your data to operate the core features of Otto. This includes authenticating your account, storing and displaying your financial records, processing receipt scans, enabling bucket sharing, facilitating in-app purchases, sending push notifications for reminders, and providing customer support.
For Analytics: We analyze aggregated and pseudonymized data (such as Product Interaction, Crash Data, and user demographics) to understand how our service is being used. This helps us identify popular features, diagnose problems, improve app stability, and make informed decisions about future development. We do not use this analysis to profile individual users for marketing.
For Developer's Communications (Marketing): We may use your Email Address to send you important updates about the app, information about new features, or promotional offers related to Otto subscriptions. You can opt-out of these marketing communications at any time.
For Security and Fraud Prevention: We use information like your User ID, Device ID, and login credentials to secure your account, prevent fraudulent activity, and ensure the integrity of our services.
Data Sharing and Disclosure:
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial information with any third-party entities for marketing or sales purposes. We may disclose your data only:
To comply with legal obligations or governmental requests.
To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, and/or that of our affiliates, users, or the public.
Data Security:
We use industry-standard security measures and encryption methods to protect your personal and financial data. However, while we strive to safeguard your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security due to inherent risks in internet transmission and storage.
GDPR Rights:
Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Access: Obtain a copy of your personal data.
Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Erasure: Request deletion of your personal data.
